Get the most from your old PC
It is not always the case that you need the latest, fastest computer on your desk.
Some parts of our Web Sites have been written on an old computer that would hardly be saleable today. This faithful old workhorse - 386, 40Mhz, 4Mb RAM, - can send and receive emails, access the Internet and turn out very professional looking documents. Sure, it is not as fast newer machines, it won't run new software, but it still does the job. It will shortly become our daughter's first "proper" computer.
Depending on what you want or need from a computer, an older machine may be suitable for you - either a machine you have access to already or a machine bought second hand, or a machine being sold off cheaply because its specification is a bit out of date.
